Why Auburn California Homes Get Ants From Oak Tree

Where Do Ants Around Your Home Really Come From?
At Gingerly Pest Control, we love the trees and beautiful environment we have here in Auburn, California and throughout Placer County. But sometimes the ants showing up in your kitchen or bathroom aren’t actually starting at the house.
Very often, the source can be much further away from the structure.
We recently helped a homeowner in Auburn, California who was dealing with heavy ant activity inside their home. After tracking the ant trails, we discovered the main activity was coming from a large oak tree nearly 60 feet away from the house.
Oak trees are extremely common gathering spots for ants throughout the Northern California foothill communities of Auburn, Rocklin, Lincoln, and Roseville. Ants feed on honeydew produced by aphids and other insects living in the trees, which creates large colonies that eventually spread toward nearby homes.
When ant colonies become large enough, worker ants begin traveling outward from the tree in search of food and moisture. Homes often become the next stop, especially when branches overhang roofs or landscaping creates easy pathways toward the structure.
By identifying and treating the true source of the activity, we’re able to control the problem far more effectively than simply spraying the perimeter of the house.
Whether you live in rural areas or suburban neighborhoods, ants often treat nearby oak trees, rock walls, landscape beds, and irrigation areas as their base of operations. Targeting those areas is key to achieving long-term ant control.
If you’re noticing ant activity around your home in Auburn or anywhere in Placer County, Gingerly Pest Control is always happy to help identify the source and put together an effective treatment plan.
